Nunu's Jungling Guide!

A Bit About Nunu
You would be surprised to learn that Nunu is actually more of a spell caster than crushing machine.

“What?!?! Ryoshi, you must be crazy! Nunu is a huge freaking Yeti, how can he be a caster.”

“Well it's simple yelling Beta Tester, having more damage and attack speed might be useful. However, by having more ability points, his abilities would be more powerful, who would have thought!”

Anyway, Nunu is actually a very effective jungler, and gives Warwick a run for his money for the title of Jungle King.

“Wait Ryoshi, what the heck is Jungling?”

“Well jungling is a very beneficial route of leveling in LoL. Instead of going down a lane, you take on neutral minions. This allows your team to have two single lanes and a double lane, which leads to higher levels sooner.”

Nunu is awesome!

Spells

Consume (Q Key)

Nunu bites a minion cause ??? damage and restores 100/175/250/325/400 health. It has a cooldown of 35/30/25/20/15 secs and costs 80 mana at all levels. This spell only works on minions and unfortunately not on heroes.

Opinion:
This is your life saver when it comes to jungling. Like Warwick's Q Spell, this spell heals you right when you need it. However, this spell heals much more than Warwick's, but seems to have a longer cooldown.

Blood Boil (W Key)

Nunu casts a spell on a friendly target (including himself) for 75 mana at all levels. This spell increases Attack Speed 20/30/40/50/60% and Movement Speed 8/11/14/17/20% for 40 seconds. Blood Boil has a 20 second cooldown.

Opinion
Blood Boil is a great ability, but compared to the other two abilities, it lacks usefulness in jungling. Yes, the attack speed bonus is nice, but Ice Blast and Consume would be used a lot more. Don't forget that you can cast this spell on yourself.

Ice Blast (E Key)

Nunu fires (or ices??) a blast of ice that slows the Movement Speed of an Enemy by 50% and lowers their Attack Speed by 25% as well. This slowdown lasts 4 seconds, and this ability has a 6 second cooldown. Ice Blast costs 75/85/95/105/115 mana and does 70/120/170/220/270 damage to the target.

Opinion:
This is what majorly sets the Jungle Yeti apart from Warwick the Jungle King. Nunu has an extra ability that not only damages a target, but slows down their attack. You have no idea how useful this can be when jungling. I will have more on this later in the guide.

Absolute Zero (R Key)

Nunu surrounds himself with a blizzard that slows the movement speed of anyone caught within. After a 4 second cast time, anyone left in the blizzard whirlpool of awesomeness is hit with 500/750/1000 damage. Absolute Zero costs 150/225/300 mana and has a 150/120/90 second cooldown

Opinion:
Absolute Zero could be used in jungling, but is more useful in ganking when your allies need your help. Absolute is tricky, as someone could escape it before your 4 seconds cast. That leads to one pissed Nunu since you wasted a ultimate.

Consume will be your most valued ability in jungling. The Health returned is vital in surviving. After Consume, I place Ice Blast next in importance. Ice Blast causes decent amounts of damage and slows the attack speed of the target hit with it. Blood Boil comes next. If you plan to get two Madred's Razors, then this leveling build is ideal. If you only plan to get one, the adding more Blood Boil at first is a better idea. Regardless, you should unlock all three abilities at level 4.

Jungling Guide:

I recommend before you start jungling that you inform your allies of your intentions. I find it polite, and also lets them know you somewhat know what you are doing. You don't want your teammates thinking you are a jerk just running around.

While jungling, you will encounter 7 pockets of neutral minions

3 small wraith and 1 large wraith- These minions should be handled with great caution. Every time they attack they gain health back. Be sure to have all your abilities ready especially at earlier levels.

2 small wolves and 1 large wolf- They attack fast so once again at earlier levels watch out. Smite should be able to take the large wolf out in one hit.

2 medium size golems- This is my favorite pocket. These golems give a good amount of exp and 60 gold. Smite almost kills one golem, and they are slow hitters. Don' t let them fool you, they hit hard, so be cautious.

Lizard Elder and two mini lizards- This will be your first fight. Make sure to take the Elder out first since he is the hardest hitting. At level one, it takes smite, a lvl 1 consume, and multiple hits to take him down. With Nunu, he should give you no problems. After you beat him, however, don't forget his little friends. They have the chance to kill you and will do so if you are not careful. You gain a buff after killing the elder that gives damages the target you are fighting with fire damage.

Golem Elder and two mini lizards- This is another possible first fight. The golem hits hard and at medium speed. I find this fight to be easier than the Lizard Elder, but the buff doesn't feel nearly as good. The buff reduces cooldowns, and does something with mana. Once again, don't forget your little lizard friends.

The Dragon- Attempt this when you get closer to level 5 or 6. Make sure you have all your abilities ready since this dragon hits hard. Hit him hard with Smite and Consume when your Health gets lower. Pop a heal when necessary. Never forget to Ice Blast him to lower his attack speed. Killing him is around the equivalent to destroying an enemy tower. Everyone gets around 165 gold. The dragon has a 5 minute respawn timer.

The Baron- I do not recommend attempting Baron solo with Nunu. Although possible at level 18 with the right lifestealing items, or two or three Madred's Razors, it is still risky. Baron does have a few moves that pops your hero in the air, and can hit very hard. If you are level 18 anyway, you should probably be trying to end the game.

Here's is my typical starting rotation
Lizard Elder
Two Golems
Wolves
Golem Elder
Two Golems
Wolves
Wraiths
Dragon
Lizard Elder
etc...
etc...

Once you get to level 3, jungling should be a lot simpler. It is the first two levels that is make or break for success. Just remember to keep Ice Blast on as much as possible. Ice Blast is what makes Nunu a better Jungler than Warwick. Also be sure to ask your allies if they need a gank, since there will be times where you are waiting for the neutral minions to respawn, they could probably use a gank to help out.

Your Item Build To Success!

Your item build is very important in being successful.

Recommended Final Item List
Madred Razor
Madred Razor
Sorceror Shoes
Frozen Heart
Rylai's Scepter

You should aim to gain the two Madred Razor's first. Your very first item should be the Cloth Armor. This will keep you alive longer. As soon as you get 700 gold, Blue Pill back and get Madred Razor. You will be glad you did, because this item has a 15% chance to do 500 damage to minions. This is great for jungling and great for late game farming!

After you get your first Razor, start working for your second. However, if you plan to gank a bit along the way, then get the Sorceror Shoes for the movement speed boost, and AP boost.

After gaining the two razors, and the Sorceror's Shoes, aim to get the Glacial Shroud. The Shroud lowers your cooldown by 20% and increases your mana. I recommend going for the Brand New Rylai's Scepter first, before the Frozen Heart for the increase in AP.

Summoner Spells:

I recommend Smite and Heal.

Smite is imperative since it will be your main source of damage early game.

Heal will keep you alive, simple enough.

Rally could also work in some instances. My experiences with Rally have been mixed.

Conclusion

I will add more tips as this guide is currently unfinished. If you have any suggestions please let me know. I want to make the best guide for jungling as Nunu.

If you are wondering about the ??? damage for consume, there is currently a bug where it shows 0 damage for that spell. Until I know what the damage is, I'll leave it as ???.
